Issue with customizing your desktop...

Has anyone other than myself noticed anything unusual after customizing
their desktop?

I noticed after changing the color scheme of my task bar etc. from blue
(default) to olive green (there's also silver), that the little loading
indicator bar at the bottom of my page became brownish red (usually
green) as pages were being loaded. I didn't become alarmed because I
thought that this was part of the color scheme change.

(Before anyone dies laughing and calls me stupid... you should know
that I'm new with computers.)

I continued to notice this event until I shut down for the evening. The
next day as I was downloading Windows Media Player 10, that while doing
so, I again noticed the same brown bar... after which, everything began
to go to hell in a hand basket... really fast. Not long after the
download, I totally lost access to my media player... and eventually my
computer advised me to shut down and call help. A system restore didn't
work... so I ended up doing a system recovery and starting from
scratch.

Today I retraced my steps and did some double checking to see if I
could cause the bar to turn brown again... and sure enough it did right
after I changed to the olive green. I also tried the silver color
scheme and nothing happened.

I was just wondering if anybody else with the XP Home Edition would be
willing to test the same color change to see if their loading bar
changes color. And for heaven's sake DO NOT download anything until you
change the bar back to blue (default)... just go to a page and watch
the bar as a page loads while in the OLIVE GREEN color scheme ...
change it back to BLUE (default)test again... and then get back to me.

That's the normal color for the progress indicator under that color scheme. Download a resource editor & take a look at the bitmaps in luna.msstyles
