I LOVE WALMART

I was wondering if there was a program for winxp that would encrypt
and password protect folder, or files, not only in the gui format but
also if someone tried to view the folder in a dos prompt?

I've looked around and most come close to my needs but none seem to
meet all the criteria I described.

Anything even close you could suggest would be great?
thanks,

ZIP Files.

ZIP with WinZIP or other GUI based utility and password protect the file.

Many DOS level ZIP utilities like PKZIP.EXE and PKUNZIP.EXE.

I understand using PKunzip and PKzip in the dos area, but that would
only safeguard others from seeing an individual file. What I was
looking for was a program that would require a password for an entire
folder on the desktop or under search or explore.exe. And also protect
the contents of the folder/directory under the environment of a dos
prompt window.

Is there any such program on the internet?
If I am not making any sense then ask and I will explain as best I can
next time.

thanks for your help.

No, not true. ZIP is a compression program that can password protect one or more files with
a directory tree embedded within the compressed file.

What makes you come to the faux conclusion that it will "...only safeguard others from
seeing an individual file" ?

I found something that seems to be working. FolderGuard.
I'll see how it does.

thanks though.
