Is there not ONE single person here that can help me?

Yesterday I sent out an e-mail request for help. Is there not ONE single
person out there that can help me? My granddaughter sent me some photos by
e-mail and I can't save them. Read below please.

Something has changed, and I don't know how or why.

When I receive a photo in an e-mail, NOT as an attachment, in order to save
it I use to right click the photo, then click "Save Picture As....", and I
can save the photo. NOW, when I click "Save Picture As....", I get a box
that has Windows Internet Explorer on top in the blue section, and had a
yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside. Then it says, "The system
cannot find the file specified". What happened, and how do I rectify it? I
recently updated Windows Internet Explorer 6, to 7.

Please help!

Thank you!

There probably are plenty of people who can help you if you post in the
right newsgroups. Since you are using Outlook Express, I assume that is
the email client with the problem. I would post in the OE newsgroup and
also crosspost (*not* multipost - see link for explanation) to the IE7
newsgroup.

The IE7 newsgroup is:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so it would be smart to start by going
to Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search term that describes your
problem, constrain the search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very
recently.

The OE newsgroup is:
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

An explanation of multi-vs.-crossposting:

And no, I'm sorry but I don't have your answer or I would tell you
now. ;-)

This new action is due to IE7 if you want, you can revert back to IE6 by
using add/remove programs and remove IE 7

You know, I've had trouble finding appropriate groups to ask my questions.
Google groups turns up mostly its own little inactive groups and not
newsgroups. NOT helpful.

My own OE news reader shows only the beginnings of the newsgroup names, so
for instance the eighty thousand Microsoft lists all show microsoft.publi...
and you are expected to subscribe to them all to find out what they are.

This hardly makes finding the right group easy. Anyone know of an actual
way?

(I actually read this thread because I aksed a windows xp related question
here yesterday and instead of anyone answering the question, I got two
people answering completely different IMAGINARY questions they made up
themselves as to what completely different thing they thought I ought to
know - it is extremely frustrating!)

I've disabled automatic update until Microsoft manages to realize that IE 7
is full of bugs. Thus I've avoided IE 7. That is why I can even still
print on my HP printer!

there is a separater bar in the column headers that you can click and drag to expose the rest of the names.
both when you are subscribing to news groups and when reading news groups in the folder view.

You can leave auto updates turned on but leave it set so that it doesn't
install them until you approve them.

Recommend 6 month wait prior to moving to a new version of IE after the
newer version is out to the public per past experiences with IE version
changes. IE 7 should not be listed as a critical update, rather optional.

Problem with that is that your bottom right corner will keep flashing
"Updates are ready to install" messages forever until you install them :-( is
there a way to tell it "no thanks forever" or to see which ones it's queued
up and select which ones to install?

Yes, you can select which ones you don't want - that is what the
"custom" choice is for.

Just do a Google search for the newsgroup you want. Search on something
like "Microsoft internet explorer newsgroup" for example.

Here is a web page that will take you to any of the MS newsgroups. The
newsgroup name is listed at the top when you go to a specific one, which
name you can plug into a newsreader to get access that way.

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx

Here is a different list of MS public newsgroups, though not all the latest
ones are listed.

You can also change the way it notifies you .. so you don't get that icon
all the time.. but then you don't know when they are available either...

go to Control Panel/Security Center, on left bottom option is "change the
way security center alerts me".. uncheck what you want in new window.

If you choose Custom install, you see a list of what's offered, uncheck the
ones you don't want, and then in the next window check "don't bother me
again" (paraphrased)

good luck,

Thanks a lot everyone. I'll go to the proper Microsoft group. My trouble in
getting answers is like a lot of people's.....not knowing the proper name of
the group to go to.
