is there any way to fix Faulting application errors

M

MistyEyes

This problem is nothing new to xpsp2, but it seems to be coming fast
and furious over the past month.
There are exe's and dll's that have the faulting module errors.
I have attached a log of all the event id 1000's over the past month
1/2.
Is there anyway to fix any of these problems or is it something that
has be part of our lives with xp?

I do my computer maintenance ever week, I use c-cleaner every few
days, and I run Zone Alarm (ZAISS)
ever day, and I just checked HJT, and I am clean.
Nothing rogue found.

I will try almost anything to reduce the number of these events.
TIA

Looks to me like you are infected with some malware, at the least, this:

Parasite.Internet Optimizer
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/InternetOptimizer.html

Adware.NetOptimizer
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.netoptimizer.html

Follow the procedures here:
http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

I would submit a HijackThis scan to an appropriate forum.

Download HijackThis1.99.1 from one of these locations:
http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTsetup1991.exe
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe
http://security-central.us/downloads/HJTsetup.exe

Installation instructions:
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=16805

or HijackThis2 from one of these locations:
http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTInstall.exe
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe

HijackThis2 Quick Start Guide:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/hijackthis.php?page=quick_start_guide

Install, then run HijackThis, and click the Scan button.

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Press that, save the log somewhere you can find it (Desktop, My Documents, or
similar).
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Copy the log files and paste them into a new post at ONLY ONE of these forums:
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewforum.php?f=11
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html

In your post, please state your problem clearly and what you've done so far to fix
it.

The folks there will tell you what to remove.

See the "housekeeping" they ask you to complete before you post your log:

There is ZERO malware on my machine! I have HiJackThis, and run it all
the time. I have Zone Alarm, and run it every day.
I have Adaware, and run it ever 2 days or so. I have SUPERAntiSpyware
Professional, and run in once a week.
I have Microsoft's Windows Defender, that I run once in a blue moon.
OH, and I use Firefox, NOT IE!
<sigh>
Thanks anyway!

Check the hard drive and RAM for faults.. the RAM can be easy; you
remove it, then reinsert it. If no help, run a test of the RAM.

Aside from the fact that none of that guarantees that you have no malware on your
system, including the fact that you use Firefox, which is becoming a malware target
due to its increasing popularity....could you please tell us then, what your
optimizer.exe is, what it does, and from where did you get it?
