Hello,
My organization is on XP-SP2 platform and we're a third of the way of
rolling out MS Office 2K3 (SP1).
Two of my users (out of 900 who now have Office 2K3), expressed frustrations
on their emails not retaining the hyperlinks, once sent.
Here's what's happening:
1) They'd generate a new memo, in Outlook (they both have the "Use MS Word
as editor" option enabled).
2) In the body of the email, they would bring up the 'Insert Hyperlink'
window and drill down to specific folder and file name that they'd like
referenced, and append.
3) While they're in the process of creating the email, the hyperlink works
just fine, but once it is sent, the recipient doesn't see a hyperlink... it's
simple text.
I should point out that the main reason these two users prefer to utilize MS
Word as an editor is because it gives them the option to drill down to the
exact location of the file (when creating the hyperlink), but once the
hyperlink is created, it displays it in a mapped DriveLetter representation,
instead of using the UNC path.
Example: G:\MainFolder\file.doc as opposed to
\\alliance\DFS\MainFolder\file.doc
If they make a conscience effort to remove the mapped DriveLetter and insert
the UNC path, the hiperlink remains a link.
So, the question is:
Is there any way to allow mapped drive hyperlinks to work?
