is there any system log on windows xp

Dear all,

Can someone tell me if there is system log on windows XP
that record who has accessed my computer and when? if so,
does it record what application he/she has launched, i.e.
activities took place?

eventvwr.msc is the event viewer also found in the Manage
selection under My Computer.
Just what gets logged is configurable in XP Pro by use of
the Local Security Policy
