Well, since you ask, that was not THIS thread, but ANOTHER thread, and
I noticed the OP apologized for posting to the wrong newsgroup BEFORE
anyone commented.
As a practical matter, though, I for one mainly just read the topics
that attract my interest, and I do a whole lot more lurking than I do
posting. It's neither my objective nor my desire to attempt to review
every post for freeware "purity" or to post a reply to EVERY message I
read and might have a thought about. To the best of my ability, I try
to limit my input to useful suggestions or observations rather than
trying to ignite or participate in flame wars.
A reasonable reading of my initial comment to you by a disinterested
third party would likely find that it was not a personal attack but
was, in fact, intended as constructive feedback in the nature of
explaining why nonfreeware recommendations are off topic and
suggesting alternative ways to assist those who are looking for help.
I even said (directly quoting) that it was "not a criticism, but
rather an effort to seek your cooperation (and the cooperation of
other posters by proxy.)"
I hope you take my comments as intended. If not, you can have the
last word, because I feel like there's nothing else for me to add.
