Is there any possibility to activate Win XP AFTER trial expiring?

Good evening,
has any of you any friend who is a serious candidate for Nobel Prize?
Well, one of mines is: he acquired a copy of Windows XP, and let 30 day
trial period pass WITHOUT activating it.
I'd like SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to make it acquire another copy; but,
do you know any way to save this poor man?

Activate Windows. If it doesn't work over the Internet then you'll have to
phone. No need to buy another copy.

No possibility to activate: when I try and logon, a "Yes/No" error window
tell me if I want to activate, but nothing to do, msoobe.exe doesn't appear.
