Is there a way to tell when the latest update on a spreadsheet was
accessed/saved besides the last time? I was in my financial worksheet today
and had saved updates before I realized something looked differenct in one of
the total columns. Do you know if it's possible for a hacker to access a
file right on the hard drive and make a change? I appreciate any help.

the best way to prevent this in the future is to assign as password in
the saveas dialog (in the menu 'Tools')
