Is there a way to copy non-attendees on a meeting request?

Is there a way to send a copy of a meeting request to someone without
inviting them to the meeting? I know you can name them as optional or as a
resource, but it will still go to their calendars. I just want the
notification of the meeting to go to some peoples' e-mails, not their
calendars. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Compose a seperate email. If it's a meeting invite, it goes to the calendar.
Period.
