Is there a way to configure MS Outlook Express 6 to search by the writer's
name WITHIN NEWSGROUP ANSWERS?

If so, what is it?

Thank you,

Barry Karas

More clarification needed if this isn't what your seeking.

Either on the toolbar click the Find button or on the Menu bar click Edit > Find >
Message.
In the Lookin text box, select the ng you want to search by clicking the Browse
button on the right and selecting the group from the list in the popup window.
In the From text input box type the full/partial name, moniker, alias or email
address you want to search on.
Click the Find Now button.
Any results from the search will be shown in the lower search pane and double
clicking any listed result will open that message.

If it's a thread to which you posted, then use View-Current View-Show
replies to my messages (you may need to also check "show all messages" in
the same menu). If it's NOT a thread to which you posted, then you will just
have to use the Find function in various combinations...

In addition to the other answers you've gotten, turn off "Group
messages by conversation" and sort on the Author field (click the
"Author" header).
