.... in the file name?

For example, if I have files named 4230XXXX and 40200XXX they will be sorted
by default in such a way that 4230XXXX will be first, which is not what I
really want. Is there a way to set Explorer up in such a way that it will
sort on digit-by-digit basis?

That's the thing: it doesn't work. It will place 4230XXXX over 40200XXX which
is not what I really want.

Worked like a charm. Thank you very much!

Hi Mohnatyy,

Please check the Support document: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319827

According to it there has been a change in sort order in windows xp and what
you want to achieve can be done through a tweak suggested in the above
support doc.

NOTE: Please ensure that you backup the registry as suggested before trying
the tweak

Sort again....the order will reverse. The cute little arrow next to "Name"
on the title bar shows you the sort direction.
