Seems I heard that Microsoft has an online scan. Is there a public link to
get the scan?

Sarah,
I also found that if you go to http://download.com , they have alot of Anti-virus/spyware/ad programs available. And alot of them are free. In fact; one in particular-AdAware- is endorsed by MS on MS security site. It gets rid of alot of tracking cookies;and stuff like the malicious software tool from Microsoft does. Alot of them are absolutely free;and some are free to try. Great link to get stuff, safe site too;never had a problem with it. Good Luck, and don't worry about ppl that are to wrapped up in themselves to actually help someone;there are always ppl that will help:)

Jeff,

Yes, I know. I use several local utilities for security and spyware
removal. If I get a result that is questionable, such as a suspected false
positive, or if nothing is detected but there is a problem on my computer, I
scan my computer online to see if the file is detected by other sources. I
used a new Microsoft site a while back and wanted to try it again.

This is the online scan I was looking for. http://safety.live.com It is a
Windows comprehensive scan. It takes a while so if you want to use it I
suggest running it all night. Someone over at grc.security newsgroup gave
me the link.
