I have spent many hours putting together a PPT presentation on my Mac-Leopard
Op. System. I have had to change logos to have transparent background in AI
and all is well when played on my MAC. However when sent to a PC ((XP and
Vista) The playback is corupt. The logos show up with a white box. Can you
help. I have been told by Apple that there is a compatibility problem
between the two programs. How can I create a presentation on my MAC if it
cannot be viewed by PC users. Most of my clients are PC users. FYI-had a
logic board crash a few weeks ago and . Is it possible that I might have to
uninstall and reinstall all MS Office for MAC?

Thanks

There is often a compatibility problem between the same program running on
the two different operating systems. I can't comment on your situation
specifically, but font sizes are slightly different between the 2. So if I
try to run a ppt program that was generated on a Windows machine on my Mac
version of ppt, it will likely have a few spacing or tab problems. I have to
go through slide by slide and adjust. I have the same problem with FileMaker
which is cross platform. I runs perfectly well on both OSs but the screen
layout will be just a little off. I finally had to buy a low end Windows
machine to check my FileMaker solutions on before I sent them to anyone
wanting to run them on Windows.

Having the Mac-Leopard OS doesn't make the Mac to PC transition seamless - it
only gives you the option to have both Mac OS and Windows OS on the same
computer. If most of your clients are on a PC, I'd use a PC (or purchase
Windows & Office for PC and load on the *Windows side* of your Mac).

I only have a Mac as *backup* for those rare clients who run PPT on a Mac. I
don't use the Leapard capability.

Specifically for the logo in a white box. What file format was the logo
saved as? Some images will apparently show as a transparent background on a
MAC but not on a PC. I would have the logo created in either a vector
graphic as either a .eps or similar or if your color scheme for it isn't too
great, you may be able to get away with either a .gif or .png bitmap with
transparent background.
