Is Office 2007 w/Vista Worth the Effort as far as Outlook & other apps?

I recently purchased my HP Pavilion laptop which includes among other things
a version of Office 2007. Several of the programs including Exel, Access,
and especially Outlook are critical to my continued business. I have not yet
opted for the 60-day trial because I have been too busy getting my home
network up and running, which I finally had success with. I would value some
of you guys opinions who have already played around with this optional
feature and give me your true accessment of the product and some of the +'s
and -'s of this product.

Thanks in advance . . .

Office is critical to your business, and you have a Office 2007 trial which
you have not started.

Well, d'uh... maybe you should try the trial then..

1) If you're very very familiar with earlier versions of Office, there may
be a learning curve for you.

2) If you're sharing documents with other people, you need to remember to
save your Office 07 docs in a format that's compatible with earlier versions
of Office. Not hard to do; you just need to remember to do it.

Your trial may not include Outlook!

If you already have Office 2003 on its own installation media, you can use
it with Vista. The Office 2007 learning curve for some seems to be
difficult, although I personally prefer it.

Also, Office 2000 will run in Vista, but Outlook 2000 will need username and
password entered each time it is opened.

I would use the trial first to see if you like, and can use the new
interface. There HAVE been some issues with Outlook 2007 and Vista which I
personally had. Was a relatively easy fix however, and I use it everyday.
What it all boils down to, is use make makes you most productive.

Thanks Roy for the response. I have read various stories from different
blogs about differences between my current Office XP 2002 version of Outlook
which my wife and I greatly depend upon on my Win XP SP-II system and the
new Office 2007 version. I don't mind change as long as I have backward
compatibility with prior versions of the same product. I am still doing some
research on Outlook and other apps like Excel and Access.

I really appreciate everyone's input . . .
Thanks

Thanks for the input, Mike. This is getting closer to what I would consider
ideal in my effort to thoroughly evaluate the Office 2007 before making a
final decision on upgrading. I currently have Office XP 200If so,2 SP3.
Could installing XP2002 work as well? If so, I wouldn't mind the
incontinence of entering a password, because this could really save some
bucks$$$$!

Thanks again . . .

Maybe you would not wouldn't mind the ***incontinence*** of entering a
password but it would probably piss off the people around you.

Thanks for the input. All of this info is really helpful in making a
determination as to whether or not I go with the upgrade after the testing
period ends. My wife who uses the systems in our house as well is by no
means stupid, but is easy to frustrate when something new doesn't work as
advertised OR expected. I just want to keep the piece during possible
transition.

If you don't mind what were the details behind Outlook 2007 and Vista?

Thanks again . . .

When I installed I got this...

MSVCR80.DLL missing.can’t start Microsoft Outlook 2007

It's not all THAT widespread, but DOES occur on occasion. I posted my fix on
my blog, and in microsoft.public.outlook. After that, I have zero problems
with Outlook. I am a die hard Outlook user, and will not give it up. The
interface, at least to me, is very counter-intuitive, and takes a while to
get used to. This applies across the board to the entire suite btw.
