Is licensing working?

Hi,

I have installed a couple of Terminal servers and activated them ok. My
concerne is that I cant see them assigning out licenses.

Most of the clients are XP but some are 2k.

I am concerned that these servers are not working ok and will cease to
function at the end of the grace period. How can I tell if Terminal server
licensing is working correctly?

thanks

Not true.
The idea that W2K Pro and XP Pro clients should have a TS CAL
"build in" with the OS is probably the most wide-spread
misunderstanding about TS Licensing.
W2K Pro and XP Pro clients that connect to a W2K TS *do* "grab a
CAL", namely one of the TS CALs that comes with the TS Licensing
Server and is called "Existing Windows 2000 Per Device TS CAL" in
the TS Licensing Manager.

It is actually 2 2003 servers. If I cant see any licenses afssigned is it not
working properly?

Is there a kb article about this issue or anything?

The best way to check for problems is the EventLog. Licensing
problems will be recorded there, loud and clear.

Have you made sure that the TS can locate the LS?
When you check in the TS Licensing Manager, which type of license
entries do you see, and which one, if any, have been issued
(temporary, purchased, per device, per user)?
Did you install Per User or Per Device TS CALs on your TS Licensing
Server?
If you installed Per User TS CALs, is the Terminal Server (not the
Licensing Server!) also set to use "Per User" licensing? The
default is "Per Device".
You can check this from Administrative Tools - Terminal Services
Configuration - Server Settings - Licensing Mode
If it's set to Per Device mode, it will look for a Device TS CAL
and will not issue Per User TS CALs.

Check this article, it explains that even after you have
switched licensing mode on the TS, your Per User TS CAL count will
not be decremented:
