my xp is working perfectly. but i just want to try something new on my
computer and see if it works out ok

How about trying a Linux Live CD like Knoppix or Elive? You can try it
wout without even doing an install - will boot and run from the CD.

Peddle it to the Chinese. Oh! Wait! You can't. They are too busy pirating
Vista. Seems that being "FREE" isn't the only parameter that comes into play
over there. It has to be functional also.

I advice installing Vista on a seperate partition and dual booting.

If it works...great...if it doesn't work...you'll still have a good, working
OS!

1) ask yourself what is in vista that you 'need'

2) many competent consultants are advising clients to wait for at least
SP1

1) Need...? All any man (real) needs is a spear, a cave and a woman. All
else is filed under want.
2) many incompetent consultants have no idea what they are doing and are
afraid to put their as* on the line. Society is filled with followers
afraid to take that first step until a real leader comes along.

All the rest need not apply (hint: free bullsh*t software,i.e., all
linux distros and the loser that promote that crap).

For business purposes, I definitely agree - wait until it gets better. Every
new OS has compatibility issues with either hardware, software, or both, and
the potential risk to important data is too great.

For private home use, Vista is great, but I have very little important info
on my system and nothing critical. If something goes wrong, I don't have to
worry about whether my backups are from yesterday or last week. Everything
can be duplicated in just a few hours, including downloads, installs,
updates, etc.

If you will note, I quoted 'need' - implying that it is all relative.

Ah! That's it - you're one of those (imcompetent consultants - in case you
had any doubt).

Not worthy of a reply except to note that mostly, people denegrate that
which they fear.

Exactly. That is why I suggested several Linux distros which are available
as Live CDs.

You mean like a few linux losers who troll this ng denigrating Windows?
Good point and I heartily agree.

I was quickly scanning this group reading this informative and
interesting exchange on VISTA when I was again reminded how jerks like
Frank can interject their galactic ego and astounding stupidity into a
conversation and spoil it for everyone else. Does Frank really think
that, at this point, anyone cares if he is even alive, much less what
he thinks?

You may note that, in contrast to your comments about Linux, I have not
said a word about the quality of MS - I let it speak for itself.

I do wonder why you are so afraid of Linux. After all, Linux is about
choice, and it you don't like it, then no one is pushing you to use it -
still, I see all this paranoia.

many? hmm, interesting.
I would have thought that ALL "incompetent" consultants would have no idea
what they were doing.
so.. you're suggesting that there are incompetent consultants who -do- know
what they are doing?

ok, got it.
know any? LOL

Oh and you are the divine Saviour?
You think anyone cares if you're alive much less what you think?

You're wrong ray and you know it.
So stop pretending. You're not fooling anyone.
You're in an MS ng promoting open sores software at every chance.
You've already expressed your deep dislike for all things MS.
As for your snide remark..."afraid of Linux"...what on earth makes you
think anyone, let alone me, is afraid of a piece of free software?
It's you who have invaded this ng. Why are you here? Are you afraid of
MS? You use on open sores software...so why are you here?
It's obvious to all that you are the one who has exhibited definite
paranoia and are very much afraid of all things MS otherwise you
wouldn't be here!

< ALL HAIL BG & SB!!!

At least you are *finally* admitting that you do worship BG & (MonkeyMan)

Too bad they don't sell a sense of humor where you shop (Walmart).

of the bozos in this ng!
Guess what...it worked!

Sorry, I don't shop at WalMart. I was there yesterday to get a fishing
license only. Before that, I hadn't been to WM in a year.....at least.

Just like any common troll would.
Guess what...it worked!

Hardly a rise.....and barely comment.
