Is it working, really?

Anyone else noticed that the MS Beta AntiSpyware program
seldom finds any spyware, despite the fact that other
trial versions of anti-spyware that I've tried before
(especially Spybot) seemed to find dozens every day? Is
this something to do with the settings or are the updates
not up to date?

The other programs are most likely just detecting cookies. MSAS is not doing
that this time around.

Had the same question. But after I recveived an auto
update each day, it started to pickup some. But I can
still get lots of stuff on Sybot and Adaware SE if I go
to advertising web sites and then re-test. MS must not
be spending the resources on this as the issues and
technology is well known.

It's working, it's working. It reports attempts to install toolbars
(malware/adware) trojans as I am working in internet explorer.

Keep in mind that in reference to those other programs you
mentioned, they detect spyware, malware, etc. after the fact,
meaning, the system has already been infected and it has
detected it running in memory or has already changed the
registry.

I believe Microsoft is approaching spyware from an entirely
new perspective. If you notice, the reason it does not
detect spyware like other programs is that it is preventing
the spyware to even run or make unauthorized changes to
the system. In other words, it won't even let it enter the
code to be executed.

I recently used MS Spyware BETA1 to eradicate a highly
infected system. It performed really good, the system was
back to normal and is functioning better. IE was hijacked
but I performed a full system scan to remove any unwanted
spyware. I also had to temporarily remove IE using the
ADD/REMOVE Windows Component, perform another scan that
detected 2 more spyware, I removed them then added IE back
to the O/S. So far the system is still running without any
problems.
