Is it possible to schedule automatic purging of deleted folder?

(Using Vista Home Basic & Windows Mail)
I'd like to hang onto deleted mail for a few weeks after initial deletion
from the In Box, as I occasionally need to refer back to something a couple
of weeks after reading, then deleting, the original piece of mail. Is there
a way to schedule this bi-weekly--or monthly--deletion automatically?
If Windows Mail cannot do this, would Windows Live Mail have this
capability? (I have never used WLM, but would explore it if this option is
available.)
I realize that it's simple enough to manually empty the folder completely,
but I'm lazy!
Thanks,
Joe Harold

No. Neither WM nor WLM offer scheduled purging of the Deleted
Items folder.

But you can set it to empty the deleted items folder when you exit the program.
See "tools" - Options - Advanced - Maintenance.

You're very welcome, Joe.
One option would be to have a calendar program that sends you a reminder
once a month to purge your older deleted emails.
I use the free Yahoo Calendar to send me reminders.
