Is it possible to have a folder that shows in the tree that isn't stored in Exchange Server...?

I have a user who is telling me she used Outlook at a previous job and in
the tree view she had some folders that were on the Exchange Server and
other folders that she thinks were in her my documents directory.
I thought maybe she was talking about Archiving items in folders, but she
claims that's not what she's talking about.

Best I can tell she thinks it would look like this.
Draft
Inbox
Folder1 (points somewhere other then Exchange)
Folder2 (points somewhere other then Exchange)
Outbox
etc...

I've never heard of this...

We're using Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2007.

can this be done or is she imagining this?

Thanks

Kelvin

If you view the Outlook Bar you should see Outlook Shortcuts, My Shortcuts,
Other Shortcuts. There is a folder called My Documents there. If you click on
it, it will open My Documents.

This is perfectly normal in a couple of the Navigation Pane views. If you
use the Mail view, you can drag the folders from any data repository in your
profile to the "Favorite Folders" pane. You can also arrange the folders as
you wish in the Shortcuts view.

You can't put file system folders in the favorites. You can use the
Shortcuts pane - or in older versions, the outlook bar. Older versions of
outlook supported file system browsing so its very possible she had
shortcuts to the file sytem mixed with her mail folders.

Outlook 2007 does not support file browsing but you can drop file system
shortcuts to the shortcut pane.
