Is it possible to "anchor" a callout in PowerPoint 2007?

In 2003, with some clever clicking on placeholder indicators, you could
"anchor" the pointer of a callout so that if you moved the textbox portion
around, the callout still ended up pointing to the original place.

PowerPoint 2007 doesn't have the cross-hatched placeholder border to click
on, and I don't see anyway to anchor the callout.

So I guess I'm really asking: *Is* there a way to do that ion PowerPoint 2007?

I don't think there is, Dave. For what it's worth, yes, I've noticed it,
too, and yes, I find it annoying at times.

Thanks, Echo -- I was afrid that would be the answer. I think MS dropped
the ball on that one. Maybe they ought to have a new callout type called
"Anchored." It would let you move the callout with pointer anchored, but if
you wanted to move the anchor point, you could grab it and move it. Shoot -
for that matter, why aren't *all* callouts handled that way from the git-go?

Well, when I was thinking about this and experimenting with it awhile back,
I could see a case for either behavior being the default. But, like you, I
definitely would like the ability to anchor the pointer. I can't do much
about it, but I'll make sure the idea gets heard, at least.
