Callout in Powerpoint dimmed out

I tried to insert a Callout in a Powerpoint 2003 slide. All the callouts are
dimmed out, so nothing happens when I try to insert one. What do I have to
do to get them to work??

WesF,
Is the focus on your slide? Usually when something like this happens it
turns out that the cursor is in the left pane in the minislides. Try to
click on your slide and see if the call-outs are available now.
