Is it possible to add a text Placeholder on the Master Slide?

I need to add a place on the Master slide for people to enter text that is
different than the main text box. Basically I need two text placeholders on
the Master, not just one. Is there a way to do this?

You can't add a placeholder. You can only use those given by default.
For 2 text placeholder, click Format > Slide Layout.
Select the "Title and 2-column text", which can be found under Text Layouts.
See if that is what you want.
