Is it normal to have code 47 in device manager after clicking "safe remove"

Hi,
For all the usb mass storage devices like flash drives and usb memory
card readers who are needed to be removed from "safe remove", after
you click "safe remove" you got "ok, it's now safe to remove". That's
not problem, but unless you phycisally remove drive from your computer
you have "error 47" in device manager (usb mass storage).

After removing physically it goes away.

XP Pro SP2.

Is it normal. You can test, you'll see. Plug a USB mass storage device
and click safe remove. Don't unplug, look at device manager, you see
error 47. After removing physically (unplug) error code goes away.

I read carefully, but Windows always have been popular about making
people "nervous" an Windows-error actually shouln't be reflected as an

From a hardware standpoint, it IS an error, the user has not completed
the necessary sequence, and so an attached device is not accessible.
What exactly would you call it? I think perhaps the user is over-reacting?

I get this same "error message",but there is nothing connected to the USB
port.I reboot the computer and it's still there.What could be causing this?

no idea, perhaps a hardware problem? Tried removing/uninstalling the USB
and let it find/install?
