I have Windows 98 and recently loaded SBC Yahoo DSL with IE6. Now I cannot see graphics in my emails or on websites. SBC told me that IE6 is not compatible with Windows 98. On their recommendation, I reverted to IE5.0 and that's now made my Norton not work. Any insight???

<pfft> If anything, the crap on SBC/Yahoo's CD, including the customized
IE6 version, is not compatible with /any/ Windows version!

You don't need to install anything from SBC/Yahoo to use DSL:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/5448.

IE6-SP1 works just fine, thankyouverymuch, in Win98/Win98SE and in fact
Microsoft considers it a critical update: http://tinyurl.com/1hbd. The
author of this post, Anthony Grey, heads up the IE/OE sustained engineering
team at MS, BTW.

IIWY I'd Uninstall everything from SBC/Yahoo and then upgrade to IE6-SP1 the
right way, via Windows Update.

To assure a clean install,
your anti-virus application should be disabled and all other running
processes (e.g., OE, other IE windows) closed before going to Windows Update
and when downloading/installing from any MS page.

You're actually upgrading your Operating System, not just IE, so I advise
you to have a look/see here, too:

Once you have IE6-SP1 installed, you'll need to return to Windows Updates
for updates and patches not included with the install of IE6-SP1. (Do *not*
install them first!)

Whatever "Norton" you're talking about, you may have to uninstall/reinstall
it.
