Is a sound card necessary for WMC host?

Eric

Hello,

I want to slap together a simple WMC box that will be used by an WMC
extender (XB360).

I don't plan on doing anything locally, but plan on streaming MP3's and
video.

The host "should" be able to do this without a sound card, but I can see it
bitching about sound drivers not being present when it attempts to stream.

Will it work?

Thanks.

Not likely.

If there is not a sound card installed, the OS does not do sound. Windows
turns off all sounds. Except for the beep speaker which is on the
motherboard or chassis.

In case anyone deja searches this question in the future:

I gave it a try and it works fine without a soundcard. A soundcard isn't
necessary at all on the WMC host...
