is a mapped network drive counted as a permanent connection?

we have a network of windows xp home machines. one computer acts as a
"Server". if we set up mapped networked drives on some of the
computers, linking to a shared folder on the "server", are these drives
counted as permanent connections?

i.e. do they count towards the limit of 5 simultaneous connections in
xp home? or only when files are being accessed from them?

thanks

Connections refer to how many PC connections. You can have as many
drive mappings as you want for each of the 5 PC connections.

Good Luck,
