Is 5536 pre-RC1 for Cpp customers?

I downloaded the file, attempted to do a fresh install, was prompted for a
product key and my CPP key wouldn't work so I attempted to run it without a
key and it failed copying files with an error of missing files. I
re-installed my CPP copy and did an upgrade and all works very well. I have
read since then that this pre-RC1 was only for Tech-Net subscribers. I'm not
a subscriber so should I post errors I find? Am I not supposed to have this?

CPP keys work fine, mine worked okay eventually. Maybe you entered it
wrong? It does happen. I had an oddity, when I first installed it accepted
the key but when I went to activate it said key already used. I entered the
key again and it activated fine.

As a matter of fact it was made available on a public web address. The only
thing is is that one needs a product key to install it. This de facto limits
it to those who have a set as per, say, the beta 2 program.

What they should have done to ensure people did not waste their time
downloading it and wasting the 100,000 slots was to ask for the email
address of the previous registered version then take you to a download link.
Badly thought out and they have probably lost alot of previous testers out
of it and gained people who cannot even test it.

It did try to install without a key saying it would be for a limited time but
then crashed after 20 minutes missing a file. I did the upgrade and all is
well.

Good good. Obviously just a ghost in the machine.
Did you manage to activate okay?

It hasn't asked to activate. I guess I'll find out!

You can force the activation.
Go to start, type system and select system from the list. At the bottom of
the window should be activate windows. If you don't do it, it will attempt
to activate in a couple of days.
