IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL

Alex

Running XP home edition Service Pack 1.

My laptop has been working fine for some months.
Then suddenly, on boot, I get a blue screen with the error
message:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL

Ox0000000A (Ox805E5E40,Ox00000002,Ox00000000,Ox805E5E40)

There have been no softwere or hardware updates.

Any ideas?

Thanks

By my experience, this error is usually related to hardware failure. I
recommend you use some kind of a diagnostic or testing tool to check this.
Your laptop hardware manufacturer could provide this utility, check on web
site for support.

You can also try reinstalling the windows, if it is a software problem, this
will probably solve the problem.

Could be memory failing or a software problem - do you run Black ICE
Defender ?

You have a kernel-mode process or a drive attempting to
access a memory location without authorization. This
error message is typically caused by faulty or
incompatible hardware or software. The name of the
offending device driver often appears in the Stop message
and can provide an important clue to solving the
problem. Try removing the device.

Thanks for the quick replies.

No, I am not using BlackIce firewall. I am using Panda
V7.0 with the firewall activated. This was installed at
system installation time a couple of months ago.

I also installed at that time a D-Link wireless LAN card
but that's been OK too.
The Laptop is a Dell Inspiron.

Cheers,
Alex.

See MVP Jim Eshelman's STOP errors page at
http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm and click on the "0A: IRQL Not
Less/Equal" item at the top of the left side column/

Good luck
