IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL can't boot (even in Safe mode)

After replacing an Adaptec SATA controller with a Promise FastTrak
TX2300, I encountered a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD error message.

I removed the card and tried to reboot but still get the same error
message. Even worse, I still get the message when trying to boot in
"safe mode" or "safe mode with command prompt".

What can I do get in to delete the dodgy driver?

How would I go about finding what driver needs deleting and how would I
do it if I can't boot?
