IRQ conflict? USB mass storage device

The device "USB mass storage device" is not working on my Win XP Pro SP2
system (ASUS P4P800S-X M/B). Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no
joy. Driver reinstall tells me the driver is the latest available. Device
status says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".

I have noticed that my AGP video card and two ports of the USB Universal
Host Controller share the same IRQ. Could this be the problem? Or am I
clutching at straws?

When I uninstall the device, by the way, it reinstalls OK for a few minutes,
but my DOT4 HP printer device stops working. Then the DOT4 corrects itself
and the USB device stops working again.

Weird!

unplug all your USB devices then plug in the drive. I had this trouble when
I had a Epson printer plugged into the same slot/header as the storage
drive.

Just a follow up in case anyone is interested. I unplugged the HP printer
from the USB port and rebooted. No problem. So I completely uninstalled the
printer and deleted all its reg entries, then reinstalled with the printer
unplugged. Works fine now. Thanks for the tip.
