After downloading this file and placing it in the plugin folder, i

Have you got the latest version ?.

Check in your "c:\windows\system32" and "c:|windows\system32\dllcache"
for that very same file.
Same version everywhere?

Checked it, but no such or another file was found.

Do you actually have a subfolder in the "c:\program files/irfanview/plugins"
folder that goes by the "Fmod" name ?
You need it (just create if not present) and slide the "fmod.dll" file in
it.

They are talking about a "programmers API". I think, this is meant to
be inserted into nerwly created programs, and not to be a stand alone
thing. Or do I misunderstand something?

RE: Fixed
? T'was it ?

Simple solution, really.
I downloaded the complete plugins ziffile from the homepage and copied
the contents, complete with its subfolderss to the irfan directory,
started irfan, opend the ogg file, and it played, just like that!!!

After all the troublet the only thing i could think of was, that i was
glad elephants cant fly :)).

Thanks for the responces, guys.

Hi,

I didn't know how to help you on that, but I think that you should consider
on viewing images on image-viewers and videos on video-viewers.

For images: IrfanView, XnView or other...

For videos (or audio): Media Player Classic, etc

May be you aren't on a position to make that desition, but maybe you are.

PS: I always check "Images only" and also deselect SWF files.

I think of Irfanview as a graphics program, not a media player, although
I know that it'll do that. How does it compare with Media Player
Classic, both in flexibility, as well as sound and handling?

Perhaps your'e right, but i dont like to install other programs while
i can to the job with a program thats allready installed, installing
other programms just takes up alot of hd space. :))

Very poorly IMO. But it is a *great* image viewer.

"IrfanView", can do just about everything I ask it too. I have used it
for many, many years not had any trouble with it.
I would not consider using anything else.

I cant stand nor will I use Media player. If Media player was my only
option I would simple NOT use it!. It is my choice!.
I personally use "WinAmp" again I have for Many ,many years If
IrfanView wont play it WinAmp usually will.

Just my how I personally feel each to there own devices,my friends

I agree with the previous poster that Irfanview is a magnificent image
slinger -- a truly great program that happens to be contributed by its
author to everyone: a gift to us.

Thunder, with respect, please read the previous two messages very
carefully. By "Media player," I assume that you mean "Windows Media
Player." I have never heard of a program by the name of "Media player."
I did _not_ mention Windows Media Player! WMP is bundled with MS Windows.

The program that I brought up is "Media Player _Classic," which is
freeware from a guy in Hungary who uses the name "Gabest." It is a
straightforward player of many audio and video formats. Unlike the later
versions of Windows Media Player, MPC is not glitzy, doesn't take
excessive desktop space, and, best of all, does not affront users by
invading privacy and screwing up systems with Digital Rights Management.
WMC has no equalizer, tone controls, skins, swirling patterns, etc. Its
interface is quite simple, similar to early versions of WMP, which is
why Gabest called it "MP Classic."

So, I hope that I clarified what I was talking about. Is this clear now?

Regarding Winamp -- I haven't felt like trusting this software since it
was acquired by a company I don't respect (I forgot who -- is it AOL?).

Some people here have very firm ideas about what requirements software
has to meet in order to be called "freeware." While I often feel more
flexible than those posters, I feel that any program that incorporates
Digital Rights Management is not only not freeware, but also a menace to
computers and abusive of the users.

And please note that I firmly believe that people (people who aren't
music students) should always pay artists for the fruits of their
labors. Always! But DRM, at least the schemes that I know about, isn't
the way to do this.
