My windows XP sp2 PC occasionally lost network connection, I have to run
ipconfig /registerDNS and the connection to Internet is back.
My config as: PC--> Dlink DI614+ router-->DSL modem.
Could anyone please explain why this is happening?
Thanks all

If your system is on all of the time, maybe you DHCP lease expires and you
loose connectivity until you renew the connection. Just a guess, based on
the limited info given.

In Device Manager (from the System applet in Control Panel, Hardware
tab) locate the entry for your network adapter. Double-click it to get
its Properties. Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck "allow
Windows to turn off this device when not in use". See if that solves
the issue.

If it doesn't, then you need to start troubleshooting hardware in this
order, swapping out parts for known-working ones and testing after each
change:

1. cables
2. network adapter in computer
3. router
4. DSL modem/connection - call ISP for this

The system is on all the time.
The network connection is still on but I can't access the Internet.
After running ipconfig /registerDNS, I can access the Internet again.
I check the DHCP service on the Dlink DSL router, and make sure the lease is
7 days --> the problem still happens.
