IPconfig/renew cannot find files

I'am having trouble connecting to the internet via cable
modem and WINXp Pro os. When I use the IPconfig/renew
command the response says: The system cannot find the file
specified. Also when I use the IPconfig/registerdns the
response is: Registration failed (The system cannot find
the file specified. Does anyone know how to recover these
files so that I can restore my internet connectivety?

you need to add the wildcard, try "ipconfig /renew *"
but I doubt that will help your problem.
