Hello,
I have an HP/Compaq nc6120 laptop with a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit
Ethernet NIC and Cisco VPN Client installed. I have the following issue
at the moment. If I type ipconfig, I don't get any IP address or
netmask showed:
C:>ipconfig
Windows IP Configuration
C:>
I already had this issue in the past and the only solution at that time
was to use a system restore. The problem is that at the moment, I don't
have any restore point available which would allow me to go back to a
previous state.
So, here is what I tried:
1. I uninstalled the Cisco VPN Client
2. I rebooted in safe mode
3. I removed the driver for the NIC from the Device Manager
4. I rebooted in normal mode and installed the driver again
5. ipconfig still doesn't show anything. But the connectivity is there,
I can browse the Internet, etc...
I also noticed that when Windows starts, if I open immediately a
command prompt and type ipconfig, I can see all the IP details. After
some time, ipconfig doesn't give me any output anymore. This is
approximately at the same time as the network connection status icon
appearing in the lower left task tray.
I also tried to reset the winsock catalog with "netsh winsock reset",
without any success.
Any help is more than welcome. Thanks in advance,
Raphael
