HI,
I'm using WIN 2000 Advance Server n using LAN network
inside the room with 23 PC(using Win989) connected. B4 i
install the W2000 Advan Server, I had 2 install a OS so
that i can upgrade it to W2000 Advan Server. N so i did
install WIn98. There i could view all the other PCs and
can open any shared folder. But once i install W2000 Advan
Server in this PC named SERVER, i can view other PCs in
the Network Places under workgroup but i can open any
shared folders. There will be a pop up window coming
request for "Enter Network Password"
"You must supply a password to make this connection"
"Resource: \\SERVER\IPC$"
"Password: "

As long as i remember, ,i never setup any password. So y
am i asked to enter password whenever i want to access the
SERVER from other PC which i can access b4 this when i'm
using W2000 Advan Server?

The IPC$ password is created automatically like all other administrative
shares (C$, D$, etc) and is restriced to use by the administrator account
and the system accounts that need servicing by the server. This account
should not be directly used by users. All file shares on a Windows 2000
Server require that credentials be supplied for access by an account on the
local computer or an account that is part of the domain the computer is in.

Not sure if this is any help.
I had the same problem yesterday when I was connecting my
Win 2000 Pro laptop to another laptop with Win 98 on it. I
got the IPC$ user name and it asked for a password. I did
not setup any password either.
Make sure that they are all in the same workgroup and that
all Win 98 machines have 'File and Printer Sharing'
enabled. To be honest, if you have 23 workstations use the
Server as a domain controller and setup DHCP or keep them
static if you wish. Then add the 98 machines to that
domain and not a workgroup. This will work a lot better.
