IP Routing?

Hello Helper :)

I have two computers at my house. They are both running windows 2000. One
is a domain controller and the other is a member server. I get cable
internet access from comcast. Cable runs into my house and into a cable
modem. A network cable runs from my cable modem to a Linksys router and
then two network cables run to network slots on my computers from the
Linksys router. The computers are configured with network adapters. My
little network use to work fine. The two computers communicated and share
information. Then, one day, the computers stopped communicating. I typed
ipconfig/all at the command prompt. I saw that the IP Routing enabled entry
was set to no. Does this entry need to be set to yes in order for
networking communications to take place in my situation? How do I make the
IP Routing Enabled setting get changed to yes? The Node Type entry has a
value of Broadcast if that means anything to you. That sounds right to me.
But, then again, networking administration is new to me. The General
properties for the network adapter says the device is working properly. The
properties for my LAN Connection are configured as if the network were
functioning properly. I mean the the IP addresses are set statically. On
the member server, the TCP/IP properties are the following: The Use the
following IP address option button is selected. The IP address is
10.10.10.2. The Subnet mask is 255.0.0.0. The Default gateway is
192.168.1.1 which is the IP address of my Linksys router. The use the
following DNS server address option button is selected. The Preferred DNS
server is 10.10.10.1. On the domain controller, the TCP/IP properties are
the following: The Use the following IP address option button is selected.
The IP address is 10.10.10.1. The Subnet mask is 255.0.0.0. The Default
gateway is 192.168.1.1 which is the IP address of my Linksys router. The
use the following DNS server address option button is selected. The
Preferred DNS server is 10.10.10.1. Does anything I've written look out of
wack. Is there anything else I should do?

I want to tell you that I got some kind of virus or something a month or so
ago. I am getting alot of email messages. The email messages may be from
Postmaster, MS Net Email Storage System, MS Corporation Public Services,
Administrator, Internet Delivery Service, MS Program Security Department,
etc. The messages are about returned mail that is attempted to be sent to
addresses that I am not aware of or Critical Patches from Microsoft. Do you
think this could have anything to do with my network becoming malfunctional?
Are you aware of this virus? Do you know what I can do to get rid of it?

Thank you very much!

Keith

why r u giving static ip adddress? If u r using Linksys router it shld act as
DHCP server also.Change TCP/IP settings to obtain from DHCP in all pcs. This
will give ip address from 192.168.1.2 ...to .254 ur domain controller and
member server. It will take adddress of router as default gateway. Also make
automatically assign DNS address. If u need more detail information pls see
