IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes tell us tht IP routing is enabled. However, if that doesn't work, it may be other issue like routing table.

If you wish to see if it is not only enabled but
also working, then try pinging, tracert, or another
routed protocol THROUGH this "router".

Connect a second computer to the hub, give it a 192.168.0.x address, and
ping 192.168.2.1.

What happens if you try to make a call? If this fails, it may be a router
configuration issue - the manual provides:

"You must specify that four port ranges be forwarded to the IP address of
the Phone Adapter. These four port ranges are as follows: 5060-5061 (UDP),
53-53 (UDP), 69-69 (UDP), and 10000-20000 (UDP)."

Also, your router needs a static route to the 192.168.0.1 subnet. Some
routers do not support port forwarding to remote subnets.

yes, you can. make the rouitng look like these: to 0.0.0.0 using the first gateway; to 192.168.1.0 (vpn) point to the 2nd router.

will do, but http://192.168.2.1/ gives the login screen for the
landlords smc router. if I ping 192.168.2.1, that'd bring up anything
with an address of 192.168.x?

I don't even get a dial tone. there is power to the phone, though. it
can't be the router, I returned it to the store for a plain hub.

ohh, thanks! I'll have to review the fine manual on that ;)
Also, your router needs a static route to the 192.168.0.1 subnet. Some

I replaced the router with a simple hub.

OK - I confused you by using the term 'router'. It is the "landlords smc
router" that must have a static route to 192.168.0.x and (per the manual)
ports forwarded to the IP adress of the PAP2.

If a second computer conneceted to the hub can ping 192.168.2.1 or access
http://192.168.2.1, then routing is working on the Win2k machine.

internet --> cable modem --> router --> 802.11b adapter --> caladan -->
hub --> PAP2 --> telephone. (and vice versa, of course.)

the connection between the router and the PAP2 must first go through
the hub, caladan and the 802.11b adapter.
If a second computer conneceted to the hub can ping 192.168.2.1 or access
http://192.168.2.1, then routing is working on the Win2k machine.
