IP Conflcit from multiple addresses

We have a large network with various segments. Last week almsot every
computer on campus started getting IP Conflict messages. When the event log
was checked it showed 2 MAC addresses that were causing the conflict,
although nither were found in the network. I'll post one of them in case
this makes sense to anyone. 00:06:1B:D2:88:7A.

I can understand if someone had put a static address in while we're using
DHCP but we're talking about a conflict with hundreds of IP addresses. Thanks!

I put your code in Samspade.org and it came back with this error code:
" ERROR: Although your query appears to be an IPv6 address it is
NOT part of a block that WP knows about. If you know this is a real
IPv6 address please send mail to and let us know who to query "
Meaning it is NOT an IP address.

Well, that would be because it's a MAC address, as stated. :)

Not sure if this helps at all but the MAC belongs to:
00:06:1B:D2:88:7A is assigned to Portable Systems, IBM Japan Co, Ltd

Now all you need to do is figure out who has that NIC. Good Luck!
