Hello

How can I find the IP address of a PC running Windows XP
or 2000 Professional?

Thanks
Dwain

Dwain,

Open a MS-DOS box and type "ipconfig"

.

Click Start
Click Run

Type cmd in the box.

This brings you to the old DOS prompt.

Type ipconfig and hit enter

Voila! IP information for your XP or 2000 machine!

Happy Computing!

Click on start the Run. Type in CMD in the box and click
ok.
At the prompt type in IPCONFIG /ALL and hit the enter
key. This will give you all the information.

That term does not matter much for an end-user.

Just for clarity - it's not MS-DOS. It's a command prompt that looks
like DOS.

In XP - Start/Settings/Network Connections/Local Area
Connection/Support. Not sure about 2000,
Maybe a *little* bit easier than going to DOS... :-)

It matters when you try to use MS-DOS commands that don't work in a
WinXP command prompt.
