IP address

We have had our PC with cable internet connection since
April we are novices. Everyday for about a week now when
the PC is turned on internet connection is unavailable.
My ISP says that Windows is changing my IP address. How
do I fix this problem? Please don't be technical - I'm
not.

Your ISP is probably correct. If it were configured correctly, then you
would have the configured windows to automatically establish the IP
address when it connects to the ISP. The ISP runs a service called DHCP
which tells your computer which IP address to use. Therefore, it is ok
for Windows to change the IP addresss. but once set, it should stick.

You don't give any more information which enables debugging this.

Suggest you check that you've set your internet connection to have an
automatic setting of IP address, and then call back to the ISP and tell
them that their DHCP doesn't seem to work properly.
