Gary's right, Claudio. If you want your computer to have an IP
address even when the network cable is unplugged/disconnected, install
the Microsoft Loopback Adapter and give it a fixed IP address.
To install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter:
1. Go to Control Panel | Printers and Other Hardware.
2. Click "Add Hardware".
3. Click Next.
4. Select "Yes, I have already connected the hardware".
5. Click Next.
6. Select "Add a new hardware device" from the list and click Next.
7. Select "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list"
and click Next.
8. Double click Network Adapters.
9. Click Microsoft.
10. Click Microsoft Loopback Adapter
11. Click Next twice.
12. Click Finish.
