Hi Daniel
What IP address does the modem manual say it can be found on? Assuming the
modem isn't running DHCP services, have you assigned a static IP address to
your pc within the same subnet as the modem?
Can you post back both your pc and modem IP addresses and subnet masks
please.

Hi

it is difficult for me to give accurate info as the problem is at home,
where I do not have internet access and I have to send these posts from
work.
I believe the Modem is running with DHCP, I have posted separately for
advice on how to ensure the DHCP is enabled on my PC.
I have no manual for the Modem, it was supplied by the ISP who cannot get
me as service call for over a week.
I will endeavour to respond to your questions tomorrow.

thanks

Daniel

well here is a "different way" <g>

can you connect to the internet?
if so go here http://grc.com/default.htm scroll down and run "shieldsup!"

it will tell what IP the modem is as it scans for open ports....this testing
software , it will NOT do anything to your computer
