IO_WARNING_LOG_FLUSH_FAILED ERROR

S

Sam

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro (SP2) and all
current MS Security updates. I also have NAV 2006, BoClean, and ZAPro
(latest version) installed as well. After completing a burn with the Gear
DVD Standard program and verifying the burn, I noticed in the Event Viewer,
System section, the below error. I clicked on the URL mentioned in the
below error message, and for the suggested User Action, it said to run the
Chkdsk tool. I did that and so far have not had any more similar errors.
Could this be an initial indication of a potential HD or memory failure?
Any suggestions/information would be very much appreciated, Sam.

I should note that prior to burning any files or images, I shutdown NAV
2006, BoClean, ZAPro, and Screen Saver. I also accomplish Chkdsk (if it has
not been accomplished within a few weeks) and Defrag. The burner I am using
is the Plextor PX 760A.

Hi,

It's not indicative of an imminent drive failure or memory issue. More
likely it is that was an error at the end of the burn and the I/O for the
device did not complete correctly, or it did and the system did not read it
as such. Unless it begins repeating itself, I would not be concerned.

To: Rick and Cymbal Man Freq, many thanks for your replies. Fortunately
there is no past history of this specific error and so far, it has not
repeated itself. I have accomplished three test and verify backups last
night and today and so far this error has not reappeared.

If I were to turn off the Write Caching, would this cause a noticeable
decrease in the HD operation? I have a UPS (Tripp Lite) and so am not at
risk for any momentary voltage outages. Thanks again, Sam.

I turned off OS flushing and suddenly consistent stuttering with the soundcard
disappeared (on a Dell 4300, 1.6Ghz). I don't have directions with me about
that, but it's close to where you are with the Write Caching.

Hi,

I wouldn't turn off write caching unless it was causing issues, there more
than likely would be a performance degradation.
