Is there a way to add an invisible hit counter to a page
so the users cannot see it, but the webmaster can?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the link. I did wha the article said, but
the .cnt file is not showing up in my _private folder to
see the hit counter results. I don't know if this matters,
but the article says to click the "Show documents in
hidden directories" checkbox, but in my FP 2002, the
wording is "Show hiiden files and folders."

Please advise. Thank you!

Mark

Did you insert the hit counter and save the page??

Show hidden files and folders is the same as Show documents in hidden directories.

Hi Steve,

Yes, and I even published it, but that file is still
nowhere to be found.

Does your server have FrontPage extensions??
They are required for hit counters, and if not installed on the server, FrontPage will not publish
the necessary files for the hit counter to work.

The hit counters work when I don't hide them, so I guess
it does have the extentions. Is there any other reason why
this file is not being created?

What exactly triggers the file to be created?

How are you trying to hide them?

The report from that link said to highlight the counter,
go to Format, Font, and select "Hidden." That's what I did.

I would use the second option, Create an "Invisible" Custom Image.

All you need is a small GIF image the same color as your background or transparent that has a width
that is evenly dividable by 10.
