Hi,

Every time I log into my account the Windows error sound is played a few
seconds after the normal login jingle. However, since the login screen is
still up I can't see the error message (if there is one). Is there a way
to log what's going on during login so that I can find out what's causing
this?

TIA for help and/ or pointers.

Check the Event Viewer.

Go to Start/Run and type: eventvwr.msc and press OK. In the event
Viewer, click on each of the items in the left side menu and look for any X
error messages that correspond to the last time this behavior happened.
Double click the entry to see the details of the error. This may give you a
clue as to which program/hardware is causing the problem. Click the Copy
icon in the details dialog to copy the event details and paste it in a reply
to this thread.

Another thing to look at is Start/Run, type: msinfo32 and press OK.
Expand the Components item and click on the Problem Devices. If there is an
entry for a hardware device there, it could be where the problem is coming
from.
