Invalid users for appointments

Outlook 2003. I have two users who have had problems setting up appointments.
When they set up a new appointment they choose the people they want and then
send the message. They are both receiving bounce back messages that the
appointment can't be delivered to certain users. They are receiving the
bounce back because those users are no longer with the company and their
accounts were deleted. I asked if they were using a contact list, but in both
cases they are entering the addresses from scratch. There is some residual
coming from somewhere, but I don't know where to look.

Thanks for the reply.

Good question. I know for sure the one user who received the bounce back did
not even know who the person was. She worked for a different company within
our organization. She is no longer with the company and her mailbox was
deleted last week.

If a user's account is deleted do they have to removed as a delegate?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check the delegate angle.

If they were a delegate I believe the person who made them a delegate can
remove them but if they had delegates on their mailbox, you need to edit the
Active Directory if the mailbox is gone.

I am having a similar issue. A person used to be a delegate for one of our employees. The delegate is no longer here, and the AD account was deleted long ago.

This "phantom" account still generate message delivery failures when someone sends a meeting request to the main user...error indicates the former delegate account does not exist.

I have gone through every folder/calendat/tasks etc in the main users Outlook 2003 and removed remaining references to the former delegate. I can't find any more references to the old account yet the error still generates...where else can I look for this hidden delegate?
