Invalid installation drive

I'm running XP SP 2 and am trying to install software, but keep running into
the same error ("invalid drive :\F"). I've gone to regedit and looked at all
the installation folders I can find and everything points to the :\C drive
(where I want to direct the install). Is there something I'm missing? I've
never had this problem before. I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks!

You're not the only one recieving that error message. I've been getting the
same message on my Vista version of Windows. Depending on the setup file,
some won't have that problem. I imagine it has somethig to do with the setup
creating an automatic temporary partition, but beyond that I can't figure out
anything or even geuss. I don't know much about the new system myself though
so...

It might have something to do with an internal protection program preventing
access to the drive for automatic partitions...

With Windows Vista Premium I imagine Windows Defender might block it for one
reason or another, but I don't know about XP. Of course this is all
speculation, but maybe there is even a trouble shooter for the setup issue.
