invalid boot.ini

I am trying to get a computer to boot. It was working yesterday.
Since I log onto it remotely, I don't have a screen connected to it.

It hung up so I rebooted it. After it failed to boot, I turned it off
and turned it back on blind not knowing what was on the screen.

Now I do have a monitor connected to it, but when I try to boot, I get
invalid boot.ini. I have tried safe mode and I still get invalid
boot.ini. I tried to boot from last known working. It still gets
invalid boot.ini.

Suggestions?

HD related. Running a boot arbitrator, or as such was one software
installed...

Depending on the OS installed, you can boot from the CD/DVD and do a
start-up repair.

Stephanie: What did you do today?
Leonard Hofstadter: Well, I'm a physicist, so I just thought about stuff.
Stephanie: That's it?
Leonard Hofstadter: I wrote some of it down.

Pull the hard drive, connect to another computer, edit the boot.ini and
fix it.

For reference, you could examine the boot.ini on a working
computer, to see the format of the information. The details (the
ARC path) though, might be different between the two machines, so
you can't exactly copy a boot.ini from another machine. The content
of boot.ini, must be correct for your hardware setup, and what
exact partition the boot OS is on.

It's possible there is a utility you could run from the Recovery Console,
to fix it, but I don't remember the details. For example, they
mention "bootcfg /rebuild" here.
