Internet Searches not working

[HELP-PLEASE!!!]

Win 2000 pro., all updates done, when in IE or Netscape
certain search engines (MSN, Lycos, etc.) return a page
not found error. Also - If I type www.google.com in
browser address it returns Page not found as well. I can
manually enter IP of google and it works. Also google's
search engin works when there.
Help?!?!

Close all instances of your browser, then:

Open your command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter this:

echo 127.0.0.1>%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
ipconfig /flushdns

Then open a browser back up, go to www.google.com. It should work.

Then purchase and install antivirus software.
